Self Confidence and Self Esteem Quote

Self-esteem is reliance on one’s power to think. It cannot be replaced by one’s power to deceive. The self-confidence of a scientist and the self-confidence of a con man are not interchangeable states, and do not come from the same psychological universe. The success of a man who deals with reality augments his self-confidence. The success of a con man augments his panic.  Ayn Rand

The annual Women's World Summit (taking place this past week) celebrates the power and achievements of women around the world. Were she alive today Ayn Rand certainly would've been one of those being recognized for her writing achievements.

Ayn Rand was a woman in possession of tremendous self-esteem and self confidence. Ultimately maybe too much of both. Her writings are celebrated still today but certain of her actions in her private life left some of her devotees lives fractured.

While healthy self esteem and self confidence are the engines that drive us towards success, a certain amount of humility is always a good thing to have. It acts as a counter balance when self esteem and self confidence gets out of control.
